The KDBA Lake Meridian Dragons are hosting a ‘friendly’ competition on the 4th of July as part of the City of Kent’s Splash festivities on Lake Meridian and WE WANT YOU !
KDBA would like to fill two 20-person boats with paddlers, not only from KDBA, but from other local dragon boat clubs including WAM for this fun, hopefully yearly competition. We will run a shortened course with a trophy awarded to the team that wins the best two out of three races. Funny hats/head adornments are encouraged!
The race will begin at 6:45 p.m. with loading at the Lake Meridian boat launch at 6:00. Your “race fee” is a minimum donation of $10 per person to KDBA (https://www.kentdragonboat.com/donate/ with “Splash” in the notes) that will be sent to the Lake Meridian Community Association.
After the races at approximately 8:00 p.m. we will participate in a boat parade around the lake with the community association. We anticipate finishing up by 8:30 at the latest. For those that would like to stay for the fireworks, they start at 10:00 p.m. with viewing at the park (adjacent to the boat launch).
